Education Mahakumbh 6.0 to bring over 50 VCs, directors to Hamirpur

Dharamshala, Sept 30 (UNI) Education Mahakumbh 6.0, a three-day national event focusing on the Indian knowledge tradition, NEP-2020, research, innovation and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, will be held at NIT Hamirpur from October 9 to 11.
The event is being jointly organised by Himachal Pradesh Central University (HPCU), NIT Hamirpur and IIT Mandi.
Addressing a curtain-raiser press conference here, HPCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal said the Mahakumbh aims to take education from knowledge to wisdom and ultimately to nation-building, while strengthening the link between school and higher education.
NIT Hamirpur Director Prof Hiralal Murlidhar Suryavanshi said technology, research and innovation need to be integrated with education to address emerging societal challenges.
More than 50 vice-chancellors and directors from IITs, NITs, central universities and state universities are expected to attend the event, along with academicians and researchers from India and abroad.
The central theme of the event is “Education, Nature and Progress”. It will feature 16 multidisciplinary international conferences and eight special national conclaves and seminars covering areas such as science and technology, education, health, environment, Indian knowledge traditions, traditional medicine, sports, law, media, entrepreneurship and defence.
The organisers said around 235 national and international research papers have already been received for the event.
A special initiative, ‘Shodhankur’, will encourage students of Classes 9 to 12 to undertake research and innovation. The event will also feature the Tejas Olympiad, student projects, exhibitions, panel discussions and an awards ceremony.
The inaugural session will be attended by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, while Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta will be the chief guest. Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, MPs Rajiv Bhardwaj and Anurag Thakur, and Dr Sikander Kumar are also scheduled to participate.
The sixth edition follows five earlier editions held at NIT Jalandhar, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Srinagar, Kurukshetra University and NIPER Mohali.
