Chhattisgarh tightens food safety vigilance

Raipur, Oct 8 (UNI) Protecting public health and ensuring the availability of pure, safe and quality food products remain key priorities of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. In line with this focus, the Food and Drug Administration is carrying out intensive monitoring of food quality in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district through inspections of food establishments, collection of food samples and laboratory testing, followed by necessary action wherever violations are detected.

Action is being taken in accordance with the rules against food products found not conforming to the prescribed standards. As part of this enforcement, an order has been issued with immediate effect to prohibit the sale and distribution of the identified batch of Fortune Maida in the district. Food business operators have been directed to strictly comply with food safety standards and refrain from selling or distributing products belonging to the restricted batch.

Further action will be taken in accordance with the quality and safety findings after the laboratory reports are received. The department is working to ensure that food products available in the market conform to prescribed quality standards and that consumers are protected from unsafe food.
In line with the State Government’s priority of protecting public health, the Food and Drug Administration has urged all food business operators in the district to strictly comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
