UPITS brings ‘Doctor on Duty’ to remote areas, promises 75 tests in 10 minutes

Greater Noida, Sep 29 (UNI) Imagine a hospital that does not need a large building, a sophisticated laboratory or heavy diagnostic equipment. Instead, imagine a compact healthcare system that can fit inside a car and travel from cities to villages and remote areas, bringing essential testing directly to patients.
That vision is being showcased at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) through ‘Doctor on Duty’, a portable, AI-based healthcare system developed to bring primary-level diagnostic services closer to patients. The system can conduct a range of health checks—including blood pressure, blood sugar, ECG, lung function, and eye, nose and ear examinations.
According to its developers, a single drop of blood can be used for multiple tests, with up to 75 tests reportedly completed in around 10 minutes.
The system, which costs approximately Rs 3 lakh, has been developed with the aim of taking healthcare beyond hospitals and diagnostic centres and closer to the patient's doorstep. Inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, young innovators from Uttar Pradesh have developed the system as a model for early screening and preventive healthcare.
Dr. Shrey Srivastava, MD (Internal Medicine) and Founder and CEO of Doctors on Duty, said the system brings multiple primary-level tests together on a single platform. It includes blood pressure, blood sugar, body analysis, ECG and lung-function testing, along with basic eye, nose and ear examinations. He said the platform can conduct around 75 tests, including tests based on a single drop of blood, in approximately 10 minutes.
One of the key features of ‘Doctor on Duty’ is its portability. The system can be transported easily in a car, allowing healthcare services to reach villages and areas where hospitals or diagnostic centres may not be readily available.
The equipment can operate using electricity, batteries or solar power, making it suitable for locations where access to reliable electricity may be limited.
By enabling primary testing closer to patients, the model could potentially reduce the cost and time associated with routine diagnostic services. According to the developers, in some cases, the cost of testing could be around 10% of current costs, although actual savings would depend on the type of test and the healthcare setting.
For patients in villages and small towns, local access to routine screening could also reduce repeated travel to larger hospitals, helping save both time and transportation costs.
‘Doctor on Duty’ is designed as more than a diagnostic device. It incorporates artificial intelligence to analyse available health indicators and test reports and identify potential health risks.
The objective is to provide doctors with health information at an earlier stage and support timely medical advice. The underlying approach is to make regular screening more accessible so that potential health risks can be identified before patients require treatment at larger and more expensive healthcare facilities.
Dr. Rahul Singh, CEO of the Centre for Medical Innovation at the Greater Institute of Medical Sciences, said the technology could help patients save both time and money by enabling initial tests to be conducted locally.
Local screening could also help reduce pressure on large hospitals. Patients could undergo general tests and preliminary screening closer to home, with those requiring specialist consultation or advanced investigations subsequently referred to larger hospitals.
With a price of approximately Rs 3 lakh, the portable system is also being positioned as a potential model for self-employment in the healthcare sector. Trained healthcare workers and entrepreneurs could use the equipment to provide screening and basic testing services in their local communities.
The startup has received Rs 10 lakh in funding from the Uttar Pradesh government under the ‘Start in UP’ initiative.
Its showcase at UPITS reflects the growing focus of Uttar Pradesh startups on solutions to practical challenges beyond digital services, including healthcare affordability, accessibility and availability.
For a country as geographically diverse as India, where access to hospitals, specialist doctors and diagnostic facilities remains uneven, portable healthcare systems could provide an additional way of taking basic screening services closer to underserved communities.
Designed to fit inside a car and operate on electricity, battery or solar power, ‘Doctor on Duty’ presents a model in which multiple basic health checks can be brought to the patient rather than requiring every patient to travel to a hospital.
