Himachal Guv offers prayers at Sankat Mochan temple in Shimla

Shimla, September 29 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta, along with Lady Governor Bindu Gupta, on Tuesday paid obeisance at the historic Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple here and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. The Governor prayed to Lord Hanuman and sought blessings for the progress and welfare of Himachal Pradesh.
He also visited the temple complex and took note of its spiritual heritage and association with the faith and traditions of Shimla.
On the occasion, Gupta recalled the revered saint Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj and his spiritual association with the sacred site. According to the temple tradition, Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj spent time meditating at the location and expressed a desire to have a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman established there.
Inspired by his vision, construction of the temple was subsequently undertaken and the shrine was consecrated in 1966.
The Governor said the spiritual legacy of saints and sages had enriched India's civilisational heritage and continued to inspire people towards devotion, compassion, service and harmony. He said places of faith such as the Sankat Mochan Temple were not merely centres of spiritual solace but also symbols of the enduring cultural and spiritual traditions of Himachal Pradesh.
Gupta also prayed for continued peace, prosperity and happiness of the people of the state and for the progress of the nation.
