Strong panchayats, prosperous villages foundation of Gram Swaraj; no place for dynastic politics: Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said strong panchayats and prosperous villages are the foundation of Gram Swaraj, asserting that there is "no place for a dynastic model" in a system based on transparency, accountability and self-reliance.
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister said his government is working to make villages not the last stage of development but the "first unit" of a self-reliant Uttar Pradesh and a new India.
In a post on X, Adityanath said that before 2017, villages received "only promises, not development", while politics was conducted in their name without adequate transparency and accountability. Villagers had to visit tehsils, police stations and district headquarters even for routine services such as obtaining income and caste certificates, he said.
