BJP accuses Opposition of undermining constitutional institutions, announces statewide marches in Haryana

Rohtak, Oct 30 (UNI) Accusing Rahul Gandhi and opposition parties of attempting to weaken public confidence in constitutional institutions, Haryana BJP president Dr Archana Gupta on Friday announced a statewide campaign of marches under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’, asserting that the party would counter what it termed as misinformation against the Election Commission, Supreme Court and armed forces.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP's state headquarters in Rohtak, Gupta alleged that opposition leaders were repeatedly questioning the credibility of constitutional institutions and spreading confusion about the electoral process and electronic voting machines (EVMs).
She claimed that the opposition accepted EVMs when it won elections but questioned their credibility after electoral defeats.
Targeting Congress over its objections to EVMs and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Gupta alleged that the party was attempting to create distrust in institutions.
She said democratic dissent was legitimate, but spreading misinformation and repeatedly questioning institutional credibility was not acceptable. BJP workers, she added, would reach out to people with facts to counter the opposition's campaign.
Announcing the party's political outreach programme, Gupta said BJP national president Nitin Nabin would participate in the Rohtak march on November 1, which falls on Haryana Day.
The march will begin at Jat Educational Institution and conclude at the Mahatma Gandhi statue at D-Park.
Former union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will participate in a parallel march in Faridabad on the same day.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will join a march in Karnal on November 5.
Later, at 2 pm, he will inaugurate the Shaheedi Smarak in Ambala, dedicated to the sacrifices and struggles of the countless unsung heroes of the 1857 uprising.
Gupta said the Rohtak march would also be attended by BJP state in-charge Smriti Irani, co-in-charge Dr Bhola Singh and other senior party leaders. The statewide campaign will resume after Diwali from November 9, with further marches and interactions with intellectuals planned at the Assembly constituency level.
Regarding possible announcements on Haryana Day, Gupta said the matter rested with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
She said the state government was working on welfare initiatives for the poor, women, youth and farmers, alongside efforts to attract investment, establish industries and extend benefits to women through the Lado Lakshmi scheme.
Senior BJP leaders and office-bearers, including state general secretary Satyaprakash Jarawata, chairman Amarpal Rana, state co-media in-charge Shamsher Khark and district media in-charge Pankaj Bhardwaj, were present at the press conference.
