Delhi-bound transporters warned ahead of Nov 1 pollution curbs; 87 vehicles challaned

Bahadurgarh, Oct 29 (UNI) Delhi-bound transporters have been urged to check their vehicles’ emission standards before the November 1 entry restrictions take effect, as authorities in Jhajjar district intensified pollution checks and challaned 87 vehicles without valid pollution certificates on Thursday.
District Transport Officer Ravish Hooda said an advisory had been issued asking transporters and vehicle operators to comply with Delhi’s entry requirements and verify their vehicles’ eligibility before travelling to the capital.
Under Delhi’s winter pollution-control framework, vehicles registered outside the capital that fall below Bharat Stage-VI emission standards face entry restrictions from November 1 to January 31, 2027.
Exemptions include CNG and electric vehicles, along with specified emergency and essential-service vehicles.
In Bahadurgarh, a team led by Additional District Transport Officer Rajesh Malik inspected vehicles arriving to refuel at several petrol pumps. Officials checked Pollution Under Control Certificates and issued challans to 87 vehicles found without valid certificates.
The petrol pump operators also refused to supply fuel to these vehicles, according to the transport department.
Freight operators carrying construction material are facing a separate enforcement drive.
Hooda said 46 vehicles had been challaned so far for transporting such material without tarpaulin covers. Uncovered loads allow dust to spread onto roads and contribute to air pollution, he said, urging operators to cover construction material during transit.
The department also reported seizing 269 vehicles classified as having completed their prescribed operating life.
These seizures and the 46 uncovered-load challans are cumulative figures, separate from Thursday’s action against 87 vehicles.
Hooda said the drive formed part of pollution-control enforcement under the Graded Response Action Plan and would continue.
“The checking campaign will continue,” he said, urging drivers to maintain valid pollution certificates, cover construction material with tarpaulins and follow the applicable emission and entry requirements.
