Haryana power strike: Anil Vij urges employees to resume duty, signals use of Section 108 of Electricity Act

Neeraj Bali
Panchkula, Oct 23 (UNI) Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Friday appealed to striking electricity employees to end their agitation and resume duty, saying the state government was ready to discuss all possible options to resolve the dispute, including invoking Section 108 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
The minister's fresh appeal came amid a three-day statewide strike by power employees and engineers protesting the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission's (HERC) decision to grant a parallel electricity distribution licence to a private company for Gurugram and Nuh districts.
In a post on social media platform X, Vij said the government remained open to negotiations and was prepared to explore legal and administrative measures to address the employees' concerns.
"I appeal to Haryana employees who have gone on strike to end their agitation and return to duty. We are ready to discuss all options, including action under Section 108 of the Electricity Act, 2003," Vij said.
