Karnal Police rescue woman from canal after searching for nearly 1 km

Karnal, Oct 23 (UNI) A Dial 112 emergency response team of Karnal Police rescued a woman, who was found drowning in a canal after a search spanning nearly one kilometre along its banks, police said on Friday.
The team, ERV-429, led by Sub-Inspector Dilbag Singh, swung into action after receiving information that a woman had jumped into the canal near the Kachhwa canal bridge in the jurisdiction of Ramnagar police station.
The police personnel immediately reached the spot and began searching along the canal bank. After covering nearly one kilometre on foot, they located the woman alive near the Kaithal bridge and pulled her out of the water.
She was subsequently taken to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital in Karnal for medical attention.
Superintendent of Police Karnal Karan Goel said the district police remained committed to providing prompt assistance during emergencies and protecting lives. The rescue highlighted the importance of a swift response to emergency calls, police said.
Karnal Police have urged the public to contact Dial 112 in emergencies to ensure timely police assistance.
