Haryana opens first tourist police post at Mansa Devi temple

Panchkula, Oct 11 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the state's first Tourist Police Post at the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Temple complex here, with a dedicated 20-member force and a surveillance network of more than 100 CCTV cameras to enhance the safety of devotees.
The post will function as an integrated assistance centre where pilgrims can receive guidance on darshan queues, VIP arrangements, langar, prasad, parking and transport, as well as register complaints and file FIRs without having to visit the Mata Mansa Devi Police Station, located two kilometres away, officials said.
The 20 personnel, deployed round the clock in distinctive uniforms for easy identification, have undergone special training in soft skills, courteous behaviour and multilingual communication to assist visitors from different states. They will also coordinate with the Shrine Board, Health and Fire departments during medical emergencies, stampede-like situations or VIP movements, they added.
A control room at the post will monitor live feeds from over 100 CCTV cameras installed across the temple complex to track suspicious activity and preempt crimes such as pickpocketing and chain-snatching. Loudspeakers will broadcast safety announcements to keep devotees informed and alert.
Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said the initiative reflects Haryana Police's commitment to devotee safety and improved policing at religious sites. He said the dedicated force and modern surveillance would ensure a safer, smoother experience for visitors while promoting religious tourism.
Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain, DCPs Aditi Singh and Amarinder Singh, and other senior civil and police officers were present on the occasion. UNI KK NST AAB
