Telangana CS asks departments to expedite release of central funds

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday directed departmental Secretaries to expedite the release of funds due to the State under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) by clearing pending formalities, completing compliance requirements and strengthening coordination with the Centre.
At a review meeting with senior officials at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat here, the Chief Secretary assessed the status of central assistance, onboarding requirements, expenditure reporting and closure of Single Nodal Agency (SNA) accounts, which are among the procedural requirements for the release of funds.
He directed all departments to identify and resolve pending issues on a priority basis and ensure that eligible central assistance was secured without avoidable delay.
The review covered Agriculture, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Education and Scholarships, Home, Rural Water Supply, Housing, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Transport, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and other departments.
In accordance with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's directions, Jaju instructed departmental Secretaries to conduct immediate reviews and monitor progress through the Chief Minister's review mechanism and dashboard. Officials were asked to fix responsibility for follow-up and ensure time-bound completion of pending procedures.
He also directed the Secretaries to coordinate with the concerned Additional Secretaries of the Government of India and take up outstanding issues with the appropriate authorities. His office would issue demi-official letters wherever necessary to expedite the resolution of pending matters, he said.
The Chief Secretary assured officials that he would personally take up the issues with the concerned Secretaries of the Government of India in New Delhi, if required, to facilitate the release of central funds due to Telangana.
Emphasising the importance of central assistance in implementing development and welfare programmes, he directed departments to ensure that incomplete documentation, procedural delays or lack of coordination did not hamper the release and utilisation of funds.
Several Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and other senior officials attended the meeting.
