Telangana aims to emerge as global aerospace, defence hub: Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today said the state was working to emerge as a global hub for aerospace and defence manufacturing, with a focus on reliable power supply, transparent policies, faster approvals and employment generation for local youth.
Addressing the Defence Expo curtain-raiser event at Taj Falaknuma Palace here, organised as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, Bhatti said investments should translate into increased production, sustainable employment and business opportunities for local industries rather than remain confined to announcements.
He stressed that industries should provide apprenticeship opportunities to young people and place orders with local suppliers, enabling small-scale enterprises to become partners in the state's industrial growth.
The Deputy Chief Minister said precision and reliability were critical in the aerospace and defence sectors, where even a small component could be crucial to passenger safety and the protection of human lives.
The government, therefore, needed to ensure that approvals, electricity connections and payments were delivered without unnecessary delays, he added.
Bhatti, who also handles the Finance, Planning and Energy portfolios, said predictable financial policies and uninterrupted power supply were essential for industrial expansion.
The government was working to expand renewable energy generation, strengthen the electricity grid and develop energy storage systems to ensure dependable power for industries, he said.
He noted that increasing solar power capacity alone would not suffice unless electricity was available when industries needed it, in line with their production schedules.
Emphasising accountability in the use of public funds, he said subsidies and incentives extended to industries should generate measurable benefits through higher production, skill development, employment and business opportunities for local enterprises.
Referring to skill development, Bhatti said the government was providing training through the Skills University and Advanced Technology Centres under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's leadership.
He urged industries to support these initiatives by offering hands-on training, apprenticeships and first-job opportunities to young people.
The first training opportunity and job could transform a young person's life and improve the economic condition of the entire family, he said, calling on industrialists to help local suppliers upgrade their capabilities and meet international quality standards.
He also stressed the need to strengthen research, design and advanced technology capabilities alongside manufacturing capacity to build a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Bhatti invited industrialists and experts to participate in the Defence Expo scheduled for December 7-9 and share suggestions on improving government policies and administrative systems. He said the event should facilitate partnerships that continued beyond the exhibition.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu, Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari, Dr Satheesh Reddy, Consul General Laura Williams, senior officials, scientists and industrialists attended the event.
Bhatti congratulated Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is overseeing the Defence Expo, and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Chief Secretary for their role in organising the initiative.
He said the government aimed to leverage Hyderabad's infrastructure, talent and skilled workforce to attract investments and strengthen Telangana's position as a global industrial destination.
