Standing tall on two wheels, Army officer rides 154 km to make history

Bengaluru, Nov 6 (UNI) For Major Amrit Panda, the road to a world record was not about speed, but balance, endurance and an extraordinary test of human determination. Standing on the seat of a moving motorcycle, he rode an astonishing 154 km, turning an act of sheer physical endurance into a moment of pride for the Indian Army.
With this remarkable feat, the Army Service Corps (ASC) Motorcycle Display Team, popularly known as the ASC Tornadoes, raised its World Record tally to 36, adding another chapter to its remarkable journey of pushing the boundaries of motorcycle riding.
Panda broke the previous record of 107.92 km for the ‘Longest Continuous Ride Standing on the Seat of a Motorcycle’, demonstrating exceptional concentration, physical stamina and mental toughness.
The achievement, coinciding with the 266th ASC Corps Day, was organised as a prelude to the 12th ASC Reunion at the ASC Centre (South) in Bengaluru.
Standing upright on a motorcycle seat for such a long distance is no ordinary ride. Every kilometre demands unwavering balance, precise control and the ability to overcome fatigue without losing concentration. What may appear to be a spectacular display to spectators is, for the rider, a demanding exercise in discipline and perseverance.
For the ASC Tornadoes, however, the record is about more than individual achievement. It reflects the spirit of a team that has consistently transformed motorcycle displays into demonstrations of courage, coordination and adventure.
The feat was also dedicated as a tribute to India's brave war heroes, giving the record-breaking ride a deeper significance beyond the numbers.
Lt Gen Ajay Ramdev, SM, Commandant of ASC Centre and College, Bengaluru, witnessed the performance and congratulated Maj Panda and the Tornadoes team.
Thirty-six world records tell a story of collective ambition, but the latest achievement has one man at its centre — an Army officer who turned 154 km on two wheels into a remarkable lesson in human endurance.
For Major Panda and the Tornadoes, the finish line appears to be only another starting point.
