Jarkiholi hints at possible bid to sideline CM aspirant amid ED raids

Belagavi, Sept 16 (UNI) Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Wednesday hinted at a possible political attempt to sideline a Chief Ministerial aspirant, while maintaining that he had no evidence to accuse anyone in connection with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches at properties linked to him and his family.
Reacting to union Minister H D Kumaraswamy's allegation that a "Mahanayaka" was behind the ED action, Jarkiholi said the political motive, if any, would become clear with time.
"If someone is claiming to be a Chief Ministerial aspirant, whether there is an intention to keep him away or not, we have to see," he said in Belagavi.
Jarkiholi said he would not make allegations without documentary evidence.
"We cannot accuse anyone at this stage. We have no documents or evidence. When the appropriate time comes, everything will become clear," he said.
The minister also referred to what he described as attempts to prevent leaders from his community from rising politically.
"Whether it is being done with the intention of stopping leaders from the community from growing or for some other reason, we will know later," he said.
His remarks come amid political speculation following ED searches at multiple premises linked to him, his family members and associates.
Jarkiholi, however, stopped short of naming any individual or attributing the ED action to a political conspiracy.
"At present, we cannot accuse anyone. If evidence comes, we will speak," he said.
