Telangana CM Revanth Reddy targets BRS over Dharani, announces panel on land issues

Hyderabad, Sept 16 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday targeted the previous BRS government over alleged irregularities in land records and announced a high-level committee to address complaints related to the 22-A prohibited list.
Participating in a debate in the Legislative Assembly, Revanth Reddy alleged that the Dharani land records system introduced during the BRS regime had resulted in irregular transfers and encroachments of land.
He accused former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and BRS leaders of misusing the Dharani portal and alleged that lands worth crores of rupees were acquired through the system.
The Chief Minister said the government would introduce a new policy for urban land regularisation and a system for simultaneous registration and regularisation of land.
Fresh guidelines for authorised layouts would also be issued within a week after verification, he said.
Revanth Reddy said more than seven lakh acres had been placed on the prohibited list during the Dharani period, while the figure had been reduced to around three lakh acres by 2026.
He said forest, assigned and temple lands would remain on the prohibited list, while the government would address disputes relating to 3.77 lakh acres of private land.
The Chief Minister also levelled allegations against the previous BRS government over assigned, forest and Bhoodan lands and raised specific allegations concerning land associated with the My Home group.
He said the government was recommending a probe by the Special Investigation Team into alleged encroachments in Sangareddy and other areas.
Referring to Singareni lands, Revanth Reddy announced that a high-level district committee would be constituted to address pending ownership issues and suggested that union leaders discuss the matter with Singareni management.
He said pending applications under GO 118 would be resolved within a stipulated timeframe and assured that land-related issues in LB Nagar would also be addressed.
The Chief Minister also criticised BRS members for disrupting Assembly proceedings and defended the Speaker's directions on entry into the House, saying the relevant rules had been approved during the previous BRS government.
