Maha govt launches 'Mahakhanij 2.0' to curb mineral theft and revenue leakage

Nashik, Sep 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has launched ‘Mahakhanij 2.0’, an advanced digital system aimed at bringing transparency and efficiency to the extraction, transportation, licensing and monitoring of minor minerals across the state.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the system during a Cabinet meeting today. The initiative, spearheaded by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, is expected to strengthen oversight of mineral operations and curb illegal extraction, unauthorised transportation and revenue leakage.
The traditional administration of minor minerals relied heavily on paperwork and human intervention, creating challenges in monitoring and enforcement.
