Maha Cabinet unveils 7 major welfare and administrative reforms: 'CM Sristhi' Scheme, Bravery Medals approved

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) In a decisive push toward institutional excellence, high-tech educational expansion, and broad-based social welfare, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a crucial state cabinet meeting that cleared seven major policy decisions aimed at empowering security personnel, marginalized communities, and higher education.
The comprehensive package spans key structural updates, ranging from a dedicated gallantry honor for the police force to increased educational allowances and crucial economic relief for traditional workers.
To honour extraordinary courage and risk-taking in the line of duty, the state has launched the "Chief Minister’s Bravery Medal" for police personnel. The distinction includes a cash award of Rs 50,000, a medal, and a citation, with announcements slated annually on the eve of Maharashtra Day (May 1st).
Driving innovation and cutting-edge technological research, the cabinet approved the CM SRISTHI (Scheme for Research, Innovations and Technological Hubs in Higher Education Institutions) scheme, to be implemented across public universities and premier technical institutes.
In a significant move for traditional stone-cutters and quarry workers, the annual excavation limit for minor mineral royalty concessions has been substantially raised from 200 brass to 500 brass, amending the Maharashtra Land Revenue Rules.
The government established a transparent, time-bound policy framework to ensure prompt financial assistance is extended to the legal heirs of individuals facing unnatural deaths in police custody.
Honorariums for superintendents, cooks, helpers, and watchmen across nearly 2,388 aided social justice hostels have been significantly increased.
Substantial enhancements were approved for food, accommodation, and academic allowances under the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Swadhar Scheme (for SC/Neo-Buddhist students) and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Swayam Scheme (for Scheduled Tribe students) missing out on hostel admissions.
