Govt begins work to bring 30 TMC surplus water from Krishna, Konkan basins to drought-hit Marathwada: CM Fadnavis

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sep 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said the government will undertake projects to bring surplus water from the Krishna and Konkan basins to Marathwada to address the region's recurring drought situation.
Addressing the main government function on Marathwada Liberation Day, Fadnavis said work has begun to bring 30 TMC of water from the Krishna basin through the Bhima basin to parts of Dharashiv, Beed and Latur.
He said the detailed project report for a river-linking project to transfer nearly 70 TMC of water from the Ulhas basin in Konkan to the Godavari basin is in its final stage. The project will be implemented in phases over seven years, he added.
