Fire breaks out at labour camp at BMC project site in Mulund East

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) A major fire broke out at a labour camp at an under-construction Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) project for Project Affected Persons in Mulund East area of subarban Mumbai here on Thursday, officials said with no injury reported.
The fire broke out at a ground-plus-one-storey shed being used to accommodate construction workers at the project site.
The blaze, which reportedly started on a small scale, soon spread and led to explosions of gas cylinders.
Seven gas cylinders reportedly exploded during the incident.
On being alerted, personnel from the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the site and launched firefighting operations to bring the blaze under control.
All workers at the premises were evacuated safely, and no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Further details were awaited.
