Infrastructure development key to making India leading economy: Gadkari

Nagpur, Oct 3 (UNI) union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said infrastructure development is the most crucial factor in making India a leading economy, stressing that robust facilities in water, power, transport and communication sectors are essential for attracting investment, promoting industry and creating employment opportunities.
Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day international conference 'Asian Scenario on Infrastructural Development' (ASID-2026), organised by the Nagpur Centre of the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) at a city hotel here, Gadkari emphasised the need for greater use of alternative and waste materials in infrastructure projects.
He said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has so far utilised around 80 tonnes of municipal waste in road construction and informed that a one-kilometre stretch of the Nagpur-Jabalpur highway has been built using bio-bitumen.
