Navi Mumbai family court promotes mediation to settle disputes while protecting family ties

Navi Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) The role of mediation in resolving family disputes was highlighted at an awareness programme held at the Family Court in Belapur, with speakers stressing that dialogue and mutually acceptable solutions can help settle differences without causing further damage to family relationships.
The programme was jointly organised by the Family Court, Belapur, the Taluka Legal Services Committee and the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association.
Principal Judge of the Family Court Subhash Kafare presided over the event, while senior advocates Sunil Mokal and Vikas Mhatre were also present.
Advocate Manisha Bandgar, who conducted the programme, explained the growing importance of mediation in family disputes.
She said mediation provides both sides with an opportunity to communicate directly, understand each other’s concerns and work towards a solution acceptable to both parties.
Members of the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association presented a short awareness skit focusing on the consequences of prolonged disputes between parents.
The performance showed how continuing family conflict can affect children, leading to loneliness, depression, neglect of studies and difficulties in their social and emotional development.
The skit also demonstrated how mediation can bring estranged parties together for communication and help them understand each other’s concerns. It presented mediation as a means of resolving disputes without causing further harm to relationships within the family.
The programme emphasised that conventional litigation may end with one side winning and the other losing, but prolonged family litigation can result in damage to the relationship itself.
Mediation instead seeks to find common ground that allows both parties to move forward while preserving family ties wherever possible.
Advocates Vandana Dalvi, Prasad Madhavi, Krishna Pawar, Kiran Bhosale, Srushti Shirpurkar, Monica Argade, Karan Bhoir and Snehal Doke participated in the awareness skit. The Family Court, Belapur, and the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association felicitated them with certificates in recognition of their contribution.
Office bearers and members of the Navi Mumbai Court Bar Association, staff of the Taluka Legal Services Committee, Family Court employees and a large number of litigants attended the programme.
