RPF woman officer rescues two train passengers in a week in Akola

Akola, Oct 21 (UNI) A woman Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has rescued two passengers from potentially fatal accidents at Akola railway station within seven days, officials said on Wednesday.
In the latest incident, 55-year-old Sangeeta Bharat Khatri, a resident of Akola, narrowly escaped serious injury after losing her balance while trying to get off a moving train on October 17.
The incident occurred on Platform No. 1 as the Nagpur-Ahmedabad Prerna Express (22138) was pulling out of the station. Khatri attempted to alight from the train against its direction of movement but lost her footing and began slipping into the gap between the train and the platform, officials said.
RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Sonal Ingle, who was on duty, reacted promptly and pulled the woman back onto the platform before she could fall onto the tracks. The passenger suffered minor abrasions, they said.
A video capturing the dramatic rescue has since circulated widely on social media.
The rescue was the second life-saving intervention by Ingle within a week under the RPF's 'Operation Jeevan Raksha'.
On October 10, she had saved an elderly differently-abled passenger who lost his balance while attempting to board the Ahmedabad-Chennai Navjeevan Express (12655) on Platform No. 2 at Akola station, officials added.
