Conditions favourable for further advancement of Southwest monsoon

Pune, Jun 13 (UNI) Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest monsoon over some more parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha during next 2 days; over some parts of Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during subsequent 3 days.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal ( > 5.1°C) at many places over Assam and Meghalaya and Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at most places over Arunachal Pradesh; at a few places over east Rajasthan; at isolated places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh,
west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh and east Madhya Pradesh.
The temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Punjab; at a few places over Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch; at isolated places over Gujarat Region; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a
few places over Gangetic West Bengal, Uttarakhand and coastal Karnataka; at isolated places over Odisha, Vidarbha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe.
The temperatures were near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at many places over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and south interior Karnataka; at most places over Lakshadweep; at a few places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Telangana and north interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Marathwada and Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 47.8°C was reported at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).

The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Karnataka and active over Konkan and
Goa and north interior Karnataka. It has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Marathwada and north interior Karnataka and at a few places in Odisha, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region and Tamil Nadu.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan and Saurashtra and Kutch.
Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Friday.
