Odisha gets investment proposals worth Rs 2.43 lakh crore from UAE

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (UNI) Odisha has received investment proposals worth Rs 2.43 lakh crore with an employment potential of more than 8.95 lakh from its three-day investment outreach in the UAE, Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said on Friday.
The proposals, totalling Rs 2,43,162 crore, were received during 52 business engagements involving nearly 160 investors, industry leaders and business organisations, he said.
The proposals cover sectors including aluminium and downstream industries, critical minerals, green energy, logistics, food processing, textiles and chemicals. The UAE outreach resulted in eight MoUs and 16 investment intents, according to recent government-linked reports.
Swain said the government’s priority was now to convert investment proposals into projects, facilitate industrial establishments and create employment opportunities for the youth.
He said projects involving around Rs 10 lakh crore and carrying employment potential of more than 6.30 lakh had been approved since the BJP government assumed office in June 2024.
The minister said 151 industrial projects involving about Rs 3.12 lakh crore had so far been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid, with employment potential exceeding 2.40 lakh.
He also highlighted the Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, which attracted 593 proposals worth Rs 16.73 lakh crore across more than 20 sectors, with an employment potential of 12.88 lakh.
Swain said the government was focusing on both traditional and new-age industries and promoting industrialisation across all 30 districts, with the goal of building a prosperous Odisha by 2036.
