Odisha: OSOU begins first-ever recruitment of regular faculty

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (UNI) In a first, Odisha State Open University (OSOU) has begun recruitment of regular faculty, putting in place a stringent selection process involving three-tier scrutiny of applications, public disclosure of provisional eligibility and an eight-member Selection Board.
The recruitment covers Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts in Cyber Security, BBA, Political Science, Odia, History, English, Commerce and Economics.
The university issued advertisements for the posts in May 2026 and has since undertaken scrutiny of applications, grievance redressal and preparations for document verification and interviews.
Under the process, applications are being subjected to three levels of scrutiny to verify candidates’ eligibility and academic credentials. OSOU has also made provisional scrutiny reports public, giving applicants an opportunity to challenge the findings and submit supporting documents. The grievances are examined before the final scrutiny report is issued.
Candidates found eligible after scrutiny will appear before an eight-member Selection Board. To widen the academic representation in the selection process and limit the scope for local considerations, the university has invited subject experts from reputed institutions outside Odisha.
Sources associated with the recruitment said the Vice-Chancellor has also maintained a strict non-contact policy during the exercise, avoiding calls, personal approaches and meetings with candidates or outsiders, while continuing to interact with university faculty and staff.
The measures have been adopted as OSOU moves to build its regular academic faculty base. The university has sought to make the recruitment process transparent from application scrutiny through the final selection, with eligibility verification, grievance redressal and expert assessment forming key stages.
The recruitment marks a significant phase in OSOU’s institutional development, with the university seeking to strengthen its academic base through regular faculty appointments.
