Odisha: TPNODL bags Gold, 4-star rating in national safety awards

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26 (UNI) TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has won Gold Category recognition with a 4-star rating at the World Safety Organization (WSO) India State-Level Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Awards 2026 for the assessment year 2025.
The award followed an onsite assessment and evaluation by the WSO jury. TPNODL’s Head of Safety Tapan Patra, Assistant Executive Engineer Rajesh Kumar Mohanta and Dilu Rout received the award at a ceremony in Mumbai.
The assessment covered occupational health, safety and environmental practices across TPNODL’s electricity distribution operations in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, focusing on workplace risk management and compliance with safety procedures by employees and business associates.
Given the hazards associated with electricity distribution, the company emphasises risk identification, adherence to standard operating procedures, use of personal protective equipment, regular training and emergency preparedness to prevent accidents and ensure service continuity.
“Safety is a shared responsibility that must guide every task and decision,” said TPNODL CEO Dushyant Kumar Tyagi.
He said the company focuses on identifying risks before work begins, following prescribed safeguards and reporting unsafe conditions.
TPNODL also conducts public awareness campaigns on electrical safety, covering everyday electricity use, festivals and adverse weather conditions. The initiatives encourage safe practices and timely reporting of hazards to prevent accidents.
The company said it would continue to strengthen its safety culture through preventive measures, workforce welfare initiatives and continuous improvement of safety practices.
