Three men, including two teenagers, allegedly stripped & paraded naked in Kolkata over romantic affair

Kolkata, Oct 26 (UNI) In what is being described as an act of medieval-style barbarism, three men, including two teenagers, were allegedly forced to walk naked in public at gunpoint by a minor girl's family in the Behala area after one of the youths was caught in a compromising position with her, police said on Monday.
Rohit Malik, aged over 18, was reportedly in a romantic relationship with the 13-year-old girl. The couple, along with Malik's friend Rudra Das (19), had gone near Khalpar Math under Sarsuna police station on Sunday evening. While chatting, Malik allegedly kissed her, which was witnessed by one of her family friends. He informed the girl's maternal uncle, Rahul Barman, and her father, Pradip Sarkar.
Barman and Sarkar then arrived and took the two boys to their house at Basundhara Park in Khudirampally. There, they locked the two boys in a room, severely assaulted them and asked Malik to call his father. Meanwhile, the uncle called three to four of his friends to Sarkar's house.
When the youth's father, Ratan Malik, reached there, they allegedly assaulted him as well and threatened to kill the three men with a gun if they did not walk naked in the street. They then paraded the three men naked for about 50 metres along the lane in front of their house, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kunal Agarwal said.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Based on Ratan Malik's complaint, the girl's parents, Pradip Sarkar and Rinku Sarkar, and her maternal uncle, Rahul Barman, have been arrested.
“Raids are on to arrest the remaining accused,” Agarwal said.
Charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those dealing with attempt to murder, kidnapping, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation, as well as under the Arms Act, have been brought against the accused.
The medical examination of the three men has been completed. They alleged that they were threatened at gunpoint and forced to undress. However, no firearm has been found yet. CCTV footage is being collected, and some local witnesses have been identified and will be examined.
It is reported that the girl's family had opposed her alleged relationship with Malik from the very beginning.
This opposition eventually escalated into extreme brutality.
Furthermore, the perpetrators allegedly produced a firearm, placed it in the father's hands and ordered him to shoot his son.
The incident has left the entire locality in shock and sparked tension. Enraged by the actions of the girl's family, a crowd attempted to vandalise their house. Upon receiving the information, police personnel from Sarsuna police station arrived at the scene.
Realising that the situation had spiralled out of control, the girl's father and other family members fled the house. However, the girl's uncle was caught by the angry crowd, beaten up and subsequently handed over to the police, who later arrested the girl's parents.
Locals claimed that the girl's family had previously been close to a local Trinamool Congress councillor, which they alleged had fuelled their arrogant behaviour. Neighbours have sought exemplary punishment for the minor's father and maternal uncle.
Social activist Shashwati Ghosh remarked, “Those who carried out this act are mentally unstable. As for the eyewitnesses — did they find amusement in it, or did they protest? That, too, needs to be investigated.”
