Seethakka urges swift completion of development works in agency areas

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj and Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka conducted a high-level review meeting on Saturday at the State Secretariat to address the progress and pending development works in the agency areas of the Mulugu constituency.
The meeting focused on the construction of roads, government buildings, and the resolution of work delays in tribal regions.
Senior officials, including PCCF Dr. G. Suvarna, DFOs of Mulugu and Mahabubabad, ITDA engineers, and various departmental contractors, participated in the review session, an official statement said.
Minister Seethakka issued clear directives to expedite the development works while adhering to forest and sanctuary regulations. She emphasised that the Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR) Act should not be considered an obstacle to building essential infrastructure like temples, schools, and hospitals in tribal areas.
Highlighting the dire need for connectivity in remote villages such as Dubbagudam and Kondaparthi, Seethakka questioned the forest department's objections to constructing roads in areas where tribal communities have resided for generations.
“There is no scope even for an ambulance to reach these villages due to a lack of proper roads,” she stated, urging officials not to let bureaucratic procedures hinder basic amenities.
The Minister pointed out that despite funds being sanctioned for development in these regions, many contractors are hesitant to take up projects due to regulatory complexities.
She called for urgent coordination between the Forest Department, Roads and Buildings Department, Panchayat Raj Engineering Wing, and ITDA to overcome these hurdles and deliver on-ground progress.
In response, forest officials assured the Minister that they would not obstruct the construction of essential roads. They pledged to explore alternative methods in line with environmental guidelines, including building gravel and dirt roads where asphalt or concrete roads are not permitted.
A list of pending works in the Mulugu agency areas was submitted, and Minister Seethakka instructed officials to convene a follow-up meeting with the Roads and Buildings Engineering Department to ensure timely completion.
The Minister reiterated that all departments must work in unison to provide basic road connectivity and essential infrastructure to uplift tribal communities in Mulugu constituency.
