Telangana Youth Congress protests against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Telangana Youth Congress activists, led by State President Jakkidi Shivacharan Reddy, staged a protest outside the Chief Electoral Officer’s office on Tuesday, demanding action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process.
The protesters raised slogans against the Election Commission and burnt an effigy of Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his immediate resignation and arrest. Similar opposition protests demanding accountability from the CEC were held in Telangana and other parts of the country amid the ongoing controversy over voter-list revisions.
Speaking at the protest, Shivacharan Reddy alleged that the Election Commission was acting at the behest of the BJP and claimed that around 14 crore votes had been deleted across the country. He said the Congress and its allies were conducting protesBJP's behestts against what they described as irregularities in the revision process.
He said the Telangana Youth Congress was organising protests across the state following the directions of National Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib. He warned that the agitation would be intensified if the Centre failed to respond to their demands.
