YSRCP asks Govt. to take steps to tackle Covid-19 given rising cases in Singapore, Malaysia

Vijayawada, May 17 (UNI) The opposition YSRCP has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government immediately review the current health situation in the backdrop of rising COVID-19 cases in Singapore and Malaysia.

YSRCP NTR district Doctors Wing Chairman Dr.Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav, in a statement here on Saturday, pointed out that the increased travel between these countries and Andhra Pradesh, it's crucial to assess our preparedness and take proactive measures to prevent a potential surge in cases.
He told the Government to implement rigorous screening protocols at Airports and seaports for incoming travelers from Singapore and Malaysia, including temperature checks and COVID-19 testing.
Dr.Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav asked the government to ramp up testing capacity in the State to handle a potential increase in cases and ensure timely diagnosis and treatment. He also underlined the need to strengthen contact tracing mechanisms to quickly identify and isolate individuals who may have come into contact with COVID-19-positive travelers.
“Launch public awareness campaigns to educate people about COVID-19 symptoms, prevention measures, and the importance of vaccination. Ensure that healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals and clinics, is equipped to handle a potential surge in cases. The government should work closely with the health department to develop and implement effective strategies for COVID-19 prevention and control,” he observed.

Andhra Pradesh had previously demonstrated effective management of COVID-19 through measures such as Early Screening of incoming passengers at Airports and seaports helped monitor those traveling into and out of the state, he recalled, advising to implement a strategy of tracing, testing, and isolating to help contain the spread of the virus.

“In light of the rising COVID-19 cases in Singapore and Malaysia, the Andhra Pradesh government should take proactive measures to review the health situation, enhance preparedness, and ensure a robust response to prevent a potential surge in cases,” Dr.Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav emphasized.
