Ayurveda is not a relic, it is the AI-age shield: NIA Panchkula declares on 11th Ayurveda Day

Panchkula, Sep 23 (UNI) As artificial intelligence rewrites surgical precision and allopathic prescriptions multiply in household cabinets, the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Panchkula used the 11th Ayurveda Day to draw a sharp line in the sand.
The ancient system is not a museum piece to be archived; it is a living, evolving doctrine of prevention in an era of stress, insomnia and metabolic chaos.
In a ceremony marked by a ceremonial Havan, collective Vedic chanting and a direct appeal to the younger generation, institute leaders asserted that despite innovation, technology and modern surgical methods, public faith in Ayurveda remains unshaken because it alone assesses the patient's mental, physical and intellectual condition and delivers holistic treatment before disease takes root.
The celebrations began on the institute campus with a Havan and a collective prayer organised under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma. Faculty members, officers, employees and students participated, offering prayers amid the chanting of mantras.
Simranjeet Kaur, Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Panchkula, attended as chief guest and was welcomed by Dean Professor Gulab Chand Pamnani with a bouquet. Professor Gopesh Mangal, PG Dean from NIA Jaipur, joined as guest of honour.
In her address, Kaur framed Ayurveda as inseparable from sanitation and civic discipline. She said Ayurveda is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle, and cleanliness is its necessary foundation. Just as cleanliness is essential for a healthy life, Ayurveda is vital for the treatment of diseases. She noted that although the use of allopathic medicine is increasing in the modern era, people continue to repose faith in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system that has existed for thousands of years.
She added that the Municipal Corporation, Panchkula, runs awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to keep not only their homes but also their surroundings and society clean, reinforcing that a healthy lifestyle cannot be achieved without cleanliness.
Professor Gopesh Mangal projected the institute's ambition onto the global stage. He expressed hope that just as International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide, Ayurveda Day will in future be observed as International Ayurveda Day.
He declared that NIA will establish a distinct identity in the field of Ayurveda not only in North India but across the entire country.
Dean Professor Gulab Chand Pamanani delivered the ideological core of the event. He said that despite innovation, technology and modern surgical methods in the age of AI, people continue to have faith in Ayurveda, India's ancient system of medicine.
He stressed that Ayurveda is not limited to treating diseases; it assesses the patient's mental, physical and intellectual condition and provides holistic treatment.
He pointed to the surge in health problems caused by today's hectic lifestyle, irregular routines, unhealthy eating habits, stress, insomnia and mental health disorders, and said Ayurveda offers a comprehensive philosophy of life whose fundamental principle is the prevention of disease before it occurs. It provides guidance on diet, lifestyle, balanced nutrition and daily routines.
Pamanani then threw down the gauntlet to students. He urged them to establish the modern relevance and scientific credibility of India's traditional system of medicine, stating that research, standardisation of medicines and technological validation are essential for this task.
He told the younger generation that they bear the responsibility of preserving and carrying forward India's rich heritage of knowledge and practice.
Dean-in-Charge Professor Satish Gandharv reinforced that the relevance of Ayurveda has strengthened in the modern era and people's trust in it has increased.
He said the legacy of Ayurveda and Yoga has been passed down as a valuable heritage, and the younger generation must establish its scientific credibility and take it forward.
DMS Dr. Gaurav Garg, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma, stating that under his guidance NIA Panchkula has made progress in Ayurveda education, healthcare and research.
Dr. Samit Masand, Member Secretary of the Ayurveda Day Organising Committee and Assistant Professor, presented a report on the event's activities. Professor Prahlad Raghu proposed the vote of thanks, saying NIA is reaching new heights in Ayurveda medicine and education.
