BJP politics about service, not power, claims Haryana minister

Ambala, Sep 29 (UNI) Haryana minister Anil Vij today sought to contrast the BJP's record with previous governments, claiming his party viewed politics as a means of serving people rather than enjoying power and asked people that development during his tenure be compared with work carried out earlier.
“The BJP is not a platform for enjoying the comforts of politics; it is a platform for serving the people. I am an MLA who believes in getting work done,” Vij said at a Seva Setu camp at Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala Cantonment.
Vij, who holds the Energy, Transport and Labour portfolios, claimed previous governments had done little for the area and said development undertaken during his three terms representing Panjokhra Sahib should be compared with their record. He cited officially recording the village's historic name, “Panjokhra Sahib,” in government records as one of his initiatives.
The seven-time Ambala Cantonment MLA laid foundation stones for 33 development projects worth Rs 1.93 crore, including drains and streets, access roads to agricultural fields, a Kashyap Dharamshala and facilities at the village stadium.
“Our party believes in delivering work on the ground,” Vij said, adding that the BJP's message was: “We have worked, and we will continue to work.”
Vij said three access routes had also been developed to connect Panjokhra Sahib with the Ring Road after villagers raised the issue.
Listing major projects in Ambala Cantonment, he cited sports facilities, the upgraded Civil Hospital and the domestic airport. Vij said the airport had been completed and that “if all goes well, flights may begin operating from here next month.”
He also said the Rs 800-crore Shaheedi Smarak, being developed to commemorate the 1857 uprising, was expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon.
