Maha: Leopard that killed toddler captured after 27-day search in Dhule

Dhule / Shirpur, Oct 3 (UNI) The leopard responsible for the death of a two-year-old boy in Arthe village has been captured by the Forest Department after an intensive 27-day search operation, bringing relief to residents of Boradi and surrounding villages.
The capture was achieved through the alertness of villagers and the prompt action of Forest Department officials and staff, following instructions from senior authorities to capture the animal.
On September 9, a leopard attacked and killed a two-year-old boy by grabbing him in its jaws on the outskirts of Arthe village in Shirpur taluka of the district. Following the incident, the Forest Department launched an extensive operation to track and capture the animal.
During the search, a leopard was spotted in the agricultural field of Pandurang Mali in the Bharwade area. A team from the Forest Department immediately rushed to the spot, tranquilised the animal using a dart gun and successfully captured it.
The operation marks the culmination of a 27-day effort by the Shirpur Forest Department to capture the leopard, which had been identified as responsible for the fatal attack. The development has brought significant relief to villagers who had been living in fear since the incident.
