Nitish committed to protecting interests of all sections of society, JD(U) on Waqf

Patna, Apr 01 (UNI) Amid raging controversy over Waqf Board Amendment Bill and nationwide protests of Muslims, the JD(U) on Tuesday made it clear that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was committed to protecting the interests of all sections of the society.
Sanjay Jha, working president of JD(U), told media persons that as long as Kumar is in politics,
interests of all sections of the society would be protected. Waqf Board Amendment Bill would not be placed in Parliament for approval in its earlier form, he stated.
" Waqf Board Amendment Bill is not being placed for the first time in parliament, it was also placed in 2013," JD(U) leader said adding that his party was concerned for all sections of the society.
Jha said Kumar during 19 years of his tenure had done a lot for Muslims in Bihar. Anyone could check work done by Kumar for Muslim community as it was visible all around in Bihar, he pointed out.
All India Muslim Personal Law Board
(AIMPLB) is protesting nationwide against Waqf Board Amendment Bill including Patna. AIMPLB alleged that Waqf Bill was an attempt of Narendra Modi government to usurp its property. Leaders of AIMPLB have also urged Kumar to use his political influence to install Waqf Board Amendment Bill in parliament.
Kumar had warmly greeted Muslims on Eid festiva on Monday and visited their religious places in Patna to exchange pleasantry with them. He had also gone to historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna to greet Muslims where they were present in large number , who had also offered Namaz on the occasion.
