Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has formed a committee to assess the feasibility of establishing sub-centres of universities, for which a lot of proposals are being received. state Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakanta Patil informed the Legislative Council on Thursday.Patil was replying to a question raised by member Amol Mitkari in the state legislative Council.Favouring a decision by the local people''s representatives, Patil said there is a demand for setting up sub-centres at all places.Therefore, the local people''s representatives should take the initiative on the issue and decide the spot within the university''s jurisdiction where the sub-centre should come up, he said.Patil said there is no need to go directly to the university for administrative work as before, but as many things have gone online, besides the administrative work, some other programmes are being considered at the sub-centre.
