CPI(M) leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya summoned to two Kolkata Police stations

Kolkata, Oct 12 (UNI) Police on Monday summoned senior advocate and CPI(M) leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya to appear at two Kolkata police stations for questioning in connection with cases registered against him over his remarks against Hindutva groups.
A notice to this effect was issued stating that cases have been registered against him at the Garfa and Kasba police stations. He is required to appear at the police stations on October 13 and 14 for questioning.
Last Thursday, a group of miscreants allegedly attacked Bhattacharya's residence, smashed window panes by throwing liquor bottles and hurled abusive language at the veteran lawyer.
Following the incident, he referred to the attackers in a social media post as "Hindutva goons." The remark displeased Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who stated that Bhattacharya would not be spared for his comments, and asked him to erase the post within 48 hours. However. the CPI(M) leader refused to budge. Subsequently, complaints were lodged against him at the Garfa and Kasba police stations.
The police have already arrested one person in connection with the attack.
