Kerala: Siblings electrocuted while fishing in stream in Kozhikode

Kozhikode, May 25 (UNI) Siblings, aged under 14, were electrocuted after coming in contact with a snapped electric power line while fishing in a stream at Kodenchery near Thamarassery on Sunday.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Nidhin (14) and Abin (11), sons of K Biju Chandran and Sheeba, residing at Chandrankunnel at Kodenchery.
The incident occurred at around 6.30 pm, when they were fishing in a stream near their house.
At that time, there was heavy rain accompanied with strong winds, which caused a tree to suddenly fall over an electric wire, which broke and then fell into the waterlogged stream.
Local residents alerted about the tragic incident to the fire brigade and police, who rushed to the spot and rescued the children from the stream after switching off the power line.
Police rushed them to the nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
