Telangana: Devotees enthralled by cultural splendour at Saraswati Pushkaralu

Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, May 25 (UNI) On the sacred occasion of Saraswati Pushkaralu, the banks of Triveni Sangam came alive with spiritual fervour and vibrant cultural programmes, leaving thousands of devotees deeply moved.
The day’s highlight was the mesmerising Ganga Aarti, accompanied by devotional hymns and performances that blended devotion with tradition.
For the past eleven days, evening cultural programmes in front of the statue of Goddess Saraswati have been captivating pilgrims.
Today, renowned film actor and spiritual orator Tanikella Bharani added a divine aura to the atmosphere with his soulful rendition of 'Shivanama Smaranam'. As he sang, "Shiva is in me... Shiva is in you...", the gathered devotees joined in unison, creating a spiritually charged ambiance.
Tanikella Bharani recalled his visit to the site four decades ago, when the area was a forest.
Expressing his joy, he called it a divine experience to witness the transformation and to participate in Pushkaralu, which is held once every twelve years.
"Coming to Dakshina Kashi and taking part in the holy Pushkaralu is nothing short of a blessing from Shivaiah," he said, referring to the revered Sri Kaleshwara Mukteshwara Swamy temple nearby.
The day’s festivities began with a spiritual note as Matalaiah performed the Sundarakanda recital, followed by graceful Kuchipudi and Perini dance performances. These art forms, steeped in Telugu heritage, resonated deeply with the audience.
As dawn breaks, it is believed that the Gods are taking a bath at the Triveni Sangam. Bathing in the river thereafter is considered a sacred act— a reward earned from good deeds in a previous life.
The Navaratnamala Aarti, performed in front of Goddess Saraswati, was another soul-stirring moment. Devotees were captivated as hymns in praise of Sri Kaleshwara Mukteswara echoed across the waters, accompanied by the glow of lamps and the chants of Shiva Nama.
These cultural and spiritual celebrations, organised under the aegis of the Sangeet Natak Academy and the Telangana Government, left an indelible impression on devotees, reinforcing the sacred and festive spirit of Pushkaralu in Dakshina Kashi.
