Kolkata Municipal Corporation fixes two-week window for Durga Puja advertisement hoardings

Kolkata, Sep 18 (UNI) Announcing a set of rules for Durga Puja organisers, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has fixed a two-week window for putting up advertisement hoardings in the city.
A checklist of standard operating procedures has been issued by the civic body for putting up advertisement hoardings during the forthcoming festival. The civic body has issued strict guidelines for putting up advertisement hoardings, limiting the period to seven days before Mahalaya and seven days after Bijaya Dashami.
“A decision has also been taken to comply with the system of imposing fines and charges in situations of advertisements, structures, bamboo scaffoldings and so on being found beyond the permitted period as per the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, in addition to the applicable regular advertisement fees,” informed an official source.
“A strict norm has also been set for the size of the hoarding, which cannot exceed 22 feet from ground level under any circumstances,” added the official.
While following the guidelines, the Puja organisers would also have to submit a declaration or undertaking and obtain a no-objection certificate from the civic body authorities.
According to sources, the municipal corporation authorities are also exploring options on the distance from where food stalls could be installed around the Puja pandals. The civic authorities could announce some guidelines on food stalls near the Puja pandals.
