Maha: BJP spokesperson Navnath Ban accuses Opposition of politicising protests

Mumbai, Oct 11 ( UNI) BJP chief spokesperson Navnath Ban on Sunday accused opposition parties of politicising protests and using public issues to target the BJP-led government.
Addressing a press conference, Ban questioned NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar’s role in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) protest in Pune, alleging that the agitation was being used to advance his political ambitions rather than focus solely on students’ demands.
Ban also criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray over their remarks on democracy, police action and the right to protest. He said citizens had a constitutional right to demonstrate, but insisted that protests must be conducted within the framework of the law and with due regard for public order.
Referring to protests in Delhi, Ban defended police action against demonstrations allegedly held without permission and said religious places and public spaces should not be used in ways that inconvenience citizens or hurt religious sentiments.
He also defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asserting that the BJP remained committed to national interests and that opposition criticism would not weaken the party’s leadership.
Ban further expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections and challenged opposition leaders to focus on public issues rather than political rhetoric. UNI SP SSI
