Two-kg gem-studded Gold crown adorns Goddess Mahalakshmi in Pune on Ghatasthapana

Pune, Oct 11 (UNI) A gem-studded gold crown weighing around two kg was offered to Goddess Mahalakshmi at the Shri Mahalakshmi Temple in Sarasbaug, Pune, on Sunday on the occasion of Ghatasthapana, marking the beginning of the Navratri festival.
The intricately crafted crown, adorned with precious gemstones, will remain on display throughout the nine-day festival, allowing devotees to view the elaborate ornament during their visit to the temple.
Amita Agrawal, chief trustee of the temple trust, said the crown features an artistic depiction of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu seated on Garuda, along with detailed representations of the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi, collectively known as Ashtalakshmi.
The crown has been crafted by Sanjay Rathod of Rathod Jewellers. Its distinctive features include intricate carvings, precious gemstones and finely detailed depictions of the deities.
Navratri festival chief Dr Trupti Agrawal said the craftsmanship and elaborate ornamentation reflected a blend of traditional religious concepts, goldsmithing skills and artistic design.
The specially crafted crown has emerged as a major attraction for devotees visiting the temple during the Navratri celebrations, she added.
