Maha: First-year Surgery Resident dies by suspected anesthesia overdose at Sion Hospital in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 11 (UNI) In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the medical fraternity, a first-year postgraduate resident doctor at the BMC-run Lokmanya Tilak (Sion) Hospital allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room.
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Shivcharan Appa Patil, a first-year Master of Surgery (MS) student. Preliminary investigations suggest he took the extreme step by administering an overdose of anesthesia on Saturday.
The incident came to light late Saturday evening when Dr. Patil did not open his hostel room door for a prolonged period, raising concerns among colleagues and hostel residents.
Local police have registered a case of Accidental Death Report (ADR) and further investigation into the tragic incident is currently underway.
