Bihar Cabinet sanctions Rs 1,000 crore from contingency fund for flood, irrigation works

Patna, Sept 15 (UNI) In a major decision amid floods in Bihar due to swelling rivers, the Cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned an advance of Rs 1,000 crore from the state Contingency Fund for various works related to flood management and irrigation.
Additional Cabinet Chief Secretary Arvind Choudhary told news persons here, the cabinet's approval is a part of a series of decisions aimed at strengthening water management, agriculture and infrastructure in the state.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also approved the Bihar Water Resources Restoration and Silt Management Policy, 2026, which seeks to restore the capacity of rivers, barrages and reservoirs by removing accumulated silt and promoting its productive use in construction and earth-filling works.
