Rinpoche calls for peace and harmony

Siliguri, Sep 18 (UNI) Renowned Buddhist teacher Tulku Thamthog Rinpoche on Friday expressed concern over the unrest, tension and conflict s prevailing in different parts of the world and called for concerted efforts to establish peace and harmony.
Addressing the Press in Mirik, Rinpoche said lasting world peace could be achieved by improving the home environment, maintaining discipline among children and ensuring that parents properly discharge their responsibilities. He also stressed the need to avoid the misuse of modern technology and preserve culture, traditions and customs.
Rinpoche said human life is blessed through spirituality and spiritual knowledge, and urged individuals to develop their personality through spiritual values to contribute towards a peaceful society and a safe nation.
He will participate in a two-day religious ritual at the Mirik Lakeside Complex from Saturday and address devotees from the Darjeeling Hills, Sikkim and the Terai-Dooars region.
He also addressed a special programme at Mirik Gorkha Rangashala Bhavan on Friday.
