115 government school students showcase athletics skills at Kalinga Stadium

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (UNI) Reliance Foundation organised an exposure visit for 115 students from nine government schools in Dhenkanal to its Athletics High Performance Centre (HPC) at Kalinga Stadium here as part of its grassroots sports initiative.
The students, including 58 girls and 57 boys from Classes VI to VIII, were introduced to a professional sporting environment and took part in a Performance Grade Competition in three athletics disciplines — running, long jump and javelin throw.
The initiative, undertaken with the participation of the students’ parents, seeks to encourage children to take up sports while fostering fitness, discipline, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship, the foundation said.
It also aims to help students identify their interest and potential in athletics and provide them with opportunities to develop their sporting abilities.
The exposure visit is part of Reliance Foundation’s broader efforts to promote grassroots sports and provide children, particularly those from rural communities, with greater access to sporting opportunities.
The programme seeks to take sports beyond the classroom and encourage greater participation among schoolchildren while contributing to their overall development.
The Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC at Kalinga Stadium is operated by Reliance Foundation in partnership with the Odisha government to support the development of athletics talent and grassroots sports in the state.
