BJP seeks two-month suspension of AAP councillors over MCD House disruption over MCD House disruption

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Thursday criticised the disruption by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillors in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House and called for the suspension of those responsible for two months.
Kapoor said the conduct of AAP councillors during the House proceedings was shameful and urged the MCD House to pass a resolution suspending the councillors involved in the disruption from attending its proceedings for two months.
He also questioned the AAP’s stand on the quarterly development fund of Rs 25 lakh for councillors, alleging that the party was now describing the allocation as inadequate despite failing to provide the same amount for an entire year when it was in power in Delhi.
Referring to the 2023–24 and 2024–25 financial years, Kapoor alleged that the then AAP government had failed to provide Rs 25 lakh annually for councillors’ development work because it did not constitute the MCD’s Standing Committee and Ward Committees.
The BJP spokesperson’s remarks came amid a dispute over councillors’ development funds and the conduct of proceedings in the civic body’s House.
