Wadettiwar slams Maha govt over drought relief, alleges double standards

Nagpur, Oct 16 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday accused the Maharashtra government of adopting double standards on drought relief, alleging that while it had announced assistance of Rs 5,000 to farmers, two instalments under the Namo Kisan scheme remained unpaid.
Wadettiwar said Rs 3,700 crore should be deposited into farmers' accounts and criticised the government for claiming to provide advance relief while allegedly withholding benefits under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
He demanded that the entire Gadchiroli district be declared drought-affected, pointing out that only two talukas had been included in the drought list, while 10 others had been excluded.
