Telangana's Singareni to raise Naini coal supplies to Yadadri plant

Hyderabad, Sept 17 (UNI) Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to enhance coal transportation from its Naini coal mine in Odisha to the Yadadri Thermal Power Station in Telangana to meet the state's energy requirements, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr Buddhaprakash Jyoti said on Thursday.
Reviewing coal production, stock position and transportation arrangements with senior officials, Jyoti directed officials to gradually increase transportation from the current average of around 2,100 tonnes per day to 10,000–14,000 tonnes per day.
The CMD also directed General Managers of Singareni areas to step up coal production and enhance supplies to thermal power stations in Telangana in view of the El Niño conditions.
He instructed officials to identify and immediately resolve bottlenecks affecting transportation from Naini to Yadadri, the state's largest GENCO thermal power station.
Naini Area General Manager Baidya informed the meeting that adequate coal stocks were available at the mine.
He said coal was currently being transported by trucks to railway sidings during night hours due to local conditions.
Jyoti suggested increasing the number of trucks to move coal to the railway sidings faster and directed officials to coordinate with the state GENCO.
He also asked them to arrange additional transportation contracts if existing arrangements were inadequate.
The CMD directed officials to explore all options to achieve the targeted transportation levels and coordinate with the Angul district administration in Odisha to resolve issues affecting road movement.
He asked Executive Director (Coal Movement) B Venkanna to continuously monitor the availability of railway rakes at the siding and directed all departments to coordinate to ensure uninterrupted coal supplies to Yadadri.
The CMD stressed that all concerned should remain vigilant to prevent any shortage of coal at Telangana's thermal power stations.
SCCL Directors L V Suryanarayana (Operations), K Venkateshwarlu (Projects and Planning), Gowtham Potru (Personnel and Finance), ED (Coal Movement) B Venkanna, GM (Coordination and Marketing) T Srinivas and other officials participated in the review meeting.
